About Seymour, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Seymour is a census-designated community found in Illinois’ Champaign County. Approximately 300 people called the community home in 2010. Mahomet is part of the Mahomet-Seymour Community School District, with older students attending Mahomet-Seymour Junior and Senior High Schools.
Seymour is only home to several hundred people, so there aren’t any notable attractions directly in the community. There is an antique dealer located here – Antiques Etc. – but beyond that, there are very few businesses in Seymour. However, there are many attractions located in the Champaign-Urbana area that visitors and residents can enjoy. The area hosts many University of Illinois sporting events, and nature lovers might like a walk through the University of Illinois Arboretum. Performing arts are popular at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and the Virginia Theatre, and outdoor enthusiasts might like to visit the Anita Purves Nature Center or Crystal Lake Park.
Found within a humid continental climate zone, Seymour residents enjoy hot and humid summers. Average daily highs in July reach well into the 80s. While the highest temperature ever recorded was over 105 degrees, thermostat readings into the 90s are more common. It is important that locals invest in the right climate control system to be prepared for any possible weather condition. A high SEER central air conditioner will keep residents safe when uncomfortable conditions move into the area.
Winters in the region experience relatively light snowfall compared to other parts of the state. Seymour isn’t in the typical path of strong cold fronts, so temperatures tend to stay in the mid-30s during January. Overnight lows often fall into the 20s, so residents must be prepared in advance with the right gas or electric furnace. When temperatures fall to dangerously cold levels, pipes and plumbing systems are at risk of freeze damage. The right climate controls can help.
